Choosing the right one
- Pick by billing model first: fixed project, hours, milestones or a recurring retainer. The line structure follows from that.
- If the client still owes money, it is an invoice. If they have paid, use the receipt templates instead.
- Every template supports tax per line, an amount already paid and a balance due, so deposits and part payments reconcile.
Common questions
Which invoice template should I start with?
Start with the simple invoice if the work is one-off and already agreed. Move to freelance, consulting or hourly when the billing model is different.
Can I show a deposit already paid?
Yes. Enter the amount received and the invoice shows the total, the paid amount and the balance.
Is a proforma invoice a tax invoice?
No. It requests advance payment and is clearly labelled as a proforma; the final invoice follows once payment clears.
