Pricing, pitfalls and proof

  • How it is pricedPrice points or circuits, then materials, then testing and certification.
  • Common mistakeLeaving certification out of the scope, then adding it after the client approved a price.
  • Keep as evidenceReference the certificate issued and any remedial work recommended but not carried out.

Questions about this template

Should certification be a separate line?

Price it separately if it takes real time, such as an EICR. For small jobs it can sit inside the labour line as long as the certificate is named in the scope.

How do I price making good?

Either include it explicitly or exclude it. Blending plastering into an electrical line hides a cost the client often assumes is included.

What about a consumer unit upgrade?

Show the unit and the protective devices as one line, and state whether the existing circuits will be tested and reconnected.

Can I quote additional sockets as an optional extra?

Yes. Add optional items after the main total and label them clearly as not included in the price.
