Pricing, pitfalls and proof

  • How it is pricedPrice workshop time, installation days and materials as three separate costs.
  • Common mistakeAssuming square walls; scribing and remedial work then eats the margin.
  • Keep as evidenceKeep signed drawings, the timber specification and the finish agreed.

Questions about this template

Should installation be a separate line?

Yes. It makes the lead time and the site visit explicit, and it protects you when the client delays access.

How do I price a bespoke design?

Price the design or drawing time if it is significant, then the build and install. Absorbing design work into the build line hides the real cost.

What if walls are out of square?

State that the price assumes reasonable tolerances and that scribing or remedial work is charged separately.

Can I offer a painted and an unpainted option?

Yes. Offer both as clearly labelled options so the client chooses rather than assumes.
