Questions about this template

Is a security deposit income?

No. It is held on behalf of the payer and returned subject to the agreement. Do not record it as revenue.

Should I reference a deposit scheme?

If local law requires one, yes. The receipt is a good place to record the scheme and reference number.

Can I deduct for damage?

Only according to the agreement and, where required, the scheme's dispute process. State the conditions up front.

What is the difference from a normal deposit?

A deposit secures a booking or order and is applied to the price. A security deposit is refundable and is not part of the price.
